Changes to Recommended TRU-BT Cover Service Life

EMW Nuclear’s neoprene telemanipulator covers have completed their first full year of usage without reported failures, and in many cases with repeat removal and installation without tears, scratches, or material degradation.

(October 11th, 2026) — With the first batch of shipped TRU-BT Telemanipulator Covers crossing into their first full year of service with multiple customers, we have had the chance to gather information on their condition and how they have held up over the previous year, and factored these findings into considering whether our original recommended lifespan was reflective of the actual material capacity of our product.

Based on the data gathered, we are happy to state that EMW Nuclear will change the recommended lifespan of the TRU-BT from twelve months to eighteen months, given the minimal wear or embrittlement on most units already in use for ten to twelve months. We will update the accompanying documentation with the kits to reflect this for all units shipped going forward: this recommended service life is based on a typical PET user environment and usage cycle and may differ for materially different applications, such as bulk processing, environments saturated with oxidisers, and so forth.
